Shimano's MagnumLite technologies

Offering impressive versatility in a lightweight yet powerful package, the Shimano Miravel Spinning Reels provide the benefits of Shimano's MagnumLite technologies at an incredible value. Filling an all new position in the Shimano spinning reel lineup, the Miravel is the newest and most affordable reel to benefit from technologies like the MagnumLite (MGL) Rotor and CI4+ body. By having 48% less rotational inertia than traditionally constructed rotors, the MGL Rotor allows for extremely responsive operability in critical situations. Anglers will be able to more efficiently control reel rotation for more precise hooksets or working of lures in finesse fishing scenarios.

Shimano's MagnumLite series

The carbon-infused CI4+ frame construction, along with the MGL Rotor, provide a feather-light feel with dependable rigidity that resists flex and contortion under heavy drag pressures. By incorporating proprietary Shimano technologies such as the cold-forged HAGANE Gear, SilentDrive, and X-Ship, the Miravel provides durable gearing with precision tolerances for smoother reeling performance. With the Miravel in hand, more freshwater and inshore anglers than ever before will be able to experience the boost in performance provided by Shimano's MagnumLite series of reels.

Nasci FC

Building on the foundations of Nasci FC, Miravel utilises a CI4+ body and side plate for significant weight reductions. Shimano's cold-forged Hagane Gear reel technology provides Miravel with unparalleled gear durability. With premium performance at the forefront of design, Silent Drive – the same technology found in Shimano's flagship Stella range – features in Miravel. This technology translates into smoother operation due to finer gear tolerances, less vibration and improved longevity. Purpose-built for finesse fishing in both freshwater and inshore saltwater environments, Miravel is backed by Shimano's CoreProtect water repellent technology which increases durability and water resistance without creating a heavy winding feeling. Additionally, a screw in handle design has been adopted for added strength and convenience.

Overwhelmingly light

I was surprised at how light it was, although it wasn't as light as the Vanquish without taking it out of the box. If the item is shipped in a box instead of a paper bag, you may not have to worry about it breaking.

cheap

I think it's a good reel for the price, and the drag can be fine-tuned. However, if you loosen the screw to tilt the handle, the handle will come off. Also, it's a little disappointing that it can't be reversed.

Umm, yeah it's nice....but I think for $100 I could have gotten two better reels

For my ultralight rod I wanted to buy a nice reel, something in the $100- $150 range, instead of the ~$40 range I've been buying. I thought Shimano or Daiwa, after much review (and debate) I decided on the Shimano Miravel 1000. When the reel arrived I took it out of its beat up box, like other reviewers have noted the box wasn't pristine, it didn't look like a return but it looked like they forgot something and had to reopen and repackage. When I opened the box they seemed to have put 4 small washers in a plastic bag with a note to: "Please use the enclosed adjustment washers to create the "Winding Shape" you need...... whatever that means. I was missing washers of a similar size on other reels i have, so I used them there. I put the reel on an ultralight 6' carbon fiber pole I'm going to use for crappie fishing and it balanced perfectly. Cool. Next I took it out in my yard and cast it a few times with just a small jig (< 1gm) on it and it cast perfectly. The spool doesn't hold much line, even with 8lb fluorocarbon, but it's for crappie I don't need a buch of line. It's the lightest 1000 reel I have, and it's of the highest quality, but I have a $25 size/2000 YOLO that if it came in a 1000 size would be better. I was debating returning it, but I'm going to keep it, though I wouldn't buy it angain if that makes sense.

Price Point

These reels are much better than some twice their price. Great line management, lightweight, plenty of drag, great casting distance, great bail, and super smooth. Fish USA has spare spools which is another bonus. I wish I would have discovered this reel before I spent twice the amount on one twice the price. Highly recommend
